Researchers from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found that 54% of young adults between 18 and 34 years old suffer from at least one chronic health issue.
According to Knowridge, obesity, depression, high blood pressure, and asthma are just a few health conditions that one in every four young adults deals with; 40 million are affected.
The team of scientists highlighted the following percentages:
- Obesity – 25%
- Depression – 21.3%
- High Blood Pressure – 10.7%
- High Cholesterol – 10%
- Asthma – 9%
- Arthritis – 6%
Researchers found that living conditions and unhealthy lifestyles play a factor in chronic health conditions. Black Americans were also more likely to be obese compared to white Americans—33.7% versus 23.9%.
The researchers advised that health conditions get worse as we age, so risk factors are essential for better health.
