13-Year-Old Boy Shoots Down French Military Drone With a Slingshot!

I’ve stated before that the synergy on the African continent is shifting in the right direction, mainly due to the youth’s influence. And some recent news coming out of Burkina Faso further supports that claim.

According to Yeni Şafak, a 13-year-old boy, Aliou Sawadogo, has been labeled a hero for shooting down a French military drone flying near the city of Kaya, Burkina Faso. But he didn’t use just any weapon of choice, his artillery was a slingshot.

Protests have been happening throughout the West African country, demanding the departure of French troops, who many believe are behind the terrorist groups who’ve tortured the locals. The country has been experiencing a five-year fight against jihadists linked to al-Qaida and the Islamic State group, leaving thousands dead and millions injured.

Protester Mahamadi Sawadogo stated the following:

“We’re fed up with the French. They’re there with weapons, (but) jihadists have heavy weapons and kill us and kill us.”

Things came to a head recently when protesters blocked a French military convoy of about 90 trucks heading to the neighboring country of Niger. The French troops responded by firing warning shots in the air. To no avail, they decided to release a drone to capture an aerial view of the situation. That’s when 13-year-old Aliou stepped into action and shot down the drone with his slingshot, guerrilla warfare style. Once on the ground, protesters tore the UAV drone apart.
