Greetings Folks,
I just saw Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and I had to write a review. Before I share my thoughts, check out the following trailer if you haven’t seen it already.
Directed by J.A. Bayona, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rafe Spall, and Jeff Goldblum.
This sequel to Jurassic World takes place 3 years after the fall of Isla Nublar Island and the Jurassic World Theme Park. The lives of the remaining dinosaurs are threatened by the volcano that’s set to erupt, and Owen Grady (Pratt) and Claire Dearing (Howard) are called to return in order to rescue them. However, Eli Millis (Spall)—the man who’s in charge of this excursion—has other plans for the dinosaurs; which ends up putting them and the film’s heroes in grave danger.
I have to be honest, I was expecting a much better film than what I saw today. The cinematography and action sequences were the saving graces because the overall pace and storyline just didn’t do it for me. The initial mission at the beginning, the climax in the middle (whatever that was), and the ending did not flow smoothly enough to make this story believable; along with Chris Pratt’s omnipotent character who had superhuman powers and didn’t receive any scratches while dodging dinosaurs. And the supporting cast members were just fill-ins used to add dry humor to an already boring group of people.
There were a few Easter eggs in this film that paid homage to the 1993 Jurassic Park, so that was cool. But I could’ve saved some time and money, and just waited for the Redbox edition.
Grade of C-
Until Next Time…
Nice review. It’s a fine and fun movie. But almost too silly.
