Heroic news stories always make good days great. And what’s even better is when they take place in your backyard.
Kwanelle Parker of Charlotte, NC, has been making headlines since the summer. On July 2, while driving on Interstate 77 near Gilead Road, he stopped and saved 37-year-old Jamie Sicard from her burning car. She was seven months pregnant and unconscious when he pulled her out. Sicard and her then-unborn child made it thanks to Parker’s bravery.
“When I seen that car burning, it just made sense to me.”
“That’s when I just immediately kicked into action and jumped out the truck and went to assist.”
“I was shocked, myself. It feels like it’s nothing to be rewarded for. Feel it’s something that I, just someone who cares for human beings should do.”
This humble hero, however, is now in great need of help himself.
According to WSOC-TV, Parker was in a terrible motorcycle accident over Labor Day Weekend. His right leg and left arm were broken, he shattered his shoulder blade, and his right arm was amputated from the elbow down.
After several surgeries and more to come, Parker hopes to be fitted for a prosthetic arm. He and his fiancé, Chasity Thomas, are raising money to cover medical costs. The couple hopes that his heroic act over the summer will inspire the community to help him now, particularly for his stepdaughter, Rya.
“I’m glad I did it. I’d really appreciate the help I could get now out of the kindness of anyone’s heart.”

Any additional information that I come across will be shared.
I salute and wish a speedy recovery to Kwanelle Parker.
Until Next Time…
