The coronavirus conspiracy theories have been non-stop since its inception, and I came across a scientist who is validating everything that has been said. Meet Dr. Li-Meng Yan.

Chinese virologist Dr. Li-Meng Yan is making media headlines after her claim that Chinese authorities knew about the coronavirus before the first cases were officially reported and that the virus was created in a Chinese military laboratory. Stating to have been one of the first researchers to study COVID-19 in China, Dr. Yan advised that she fled the country after receiving threats for voicing her concerns about the origins of the virus to officials and a World Health Organization (WHO) contractor, Lee Poon. Dr. Yan labeled the wet market Wuhan origin theory a “smokescreen” and claims that the Chinese Communist Party was involved in the cover-up.

Scientists, however, are denouncing the claims made by Dr. Yan. According to AS USA, scientists say that evidence indicates that COVID-19 likely developed naturally and not inside a lab.

A Senior Researcher in Global Health at the University of Southhampton, Dr. Michael Head, advised the following:

“This particular conspiracy around deliberate release from a laboratory has been doing the rounds throughout the pandemic. It has been rebutted several times already. Ultimately, it could be damaging to public health if reported uncritically without looking at the wider evidence. If people are exposed to and then believe conspiracy theories, this will likely have a negative impact on efforts to keep COVID-19 cases low and thus there will be more death and illness than there needs to be.”

The Assistant Professor of Hygiene and Epidemiology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Dr. Gkikas Magiorkinis, stated the following:

“Closely related coronaviruses have been retrieved from animals such as bats and pangolins which makes the scenario of naturally occurring evolution far more likely than any scenario of laboratory manipulation.”

“In fact we have clear history of zoonotic origin of lethal coronavirus outbreaks such as SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV.”
