“I’m a divine being, seeking to raise the consciousness of other divine beings, and it is my hope, that through my creative offerings, others will be reminded of their own divinity.”
– Solé
In a previous post, I mentioned how much of a late bloomer I am when it comes to finding music with a message, particularly in Hip Hop. Well, rapper Solé has recently gotten my attention, so it’s only right that I share her content with you all.
Solé is best known for her feature on J.T. Money’s hit single, “Who Dat.” It was a summer banger in 1999, charting for 8 weeks and winning “Rap Single of the Year” at the Billboard Music Awards. Her debut album, “Skin Deep,” was released in September of that year and went gold, garnering her another Billboard Music Award nomination. However, she soon requested to be released from her record label due to no longer wanting to participate in the destructive programming from the music industry.
During her 20 year hiatus, Solé embarked on a spiritual journey and became a Healing Wellness Practitioner, Jivamukti Yoga Teacher, Reiki Master, Mystical Dance Teacher, Sound Healer, Clinical Herbalist, Sacred Woman Medicine Coach, Belly Dancer, Birth Doula, and more. Her return to music was inspired by her desire to offer music that is empowering and inspiring. ENCODED, the follow up to her first album was released on September 28, 2019. And based on the videos below, it’s a must-have.
Until Next Time…
