I try to stay away from the topic of religion, mainly due to the tone-deaf emotion it evokes. But I came across a video this morning that left me speechless. Take a look.

That’s pastor Joel Trimble advising that Haitians received their independence through Voodoo, and this religion is contrary to the law of God, which is why Haitians are going through what they’re going through. Trimble, along with his wife, Yvonne, runs Haiti for Christ Ministries. It’s a 501(c)(3) that proclaims the gospel of Jesus Christ for Haitians everywhere.

Cognitive dissonance and supremacy tend to overlap whenever I listen to religious zealots discuss history. None of their theories are backed with factual data because it would contradict all of their points. Based on my research, politics and religion go hand in hand, particularly when it comes to European imperialism. And given the current conditions of African people, it worked.
