Greetings Everyone,
I was at the park enjoying Father’s Day with my family when I was introduced to an amazing organization for Black Fathers.
Black Fathers Rock
Black Fathers Rock is a 501(c)(3) organization that seeks to change the narrative and dispel the notion that Black fathers are absent, all the while providing them with resources to strengthen the Black Family. Based in Charlotte, NC, BFR has impacted our community by highlighting the importance of fatherhood and building strong families. Some of their community involvement includes partnering with the City of Charlotte to discuss growing up fatherless, inspiring the youth at YMCA’s Daddy Day in the Park, participating in the State of Our Black Boys panel discussion, as well as serving at the Men’s Shelter and Hospitality House. Black Father’s Rock also rewards fathers in the Charlotte area who exhibit what it means to be a present and active father.
After meeting the creator, Ryan Jor El, and his beautiful family, I gained a new sense of pride for the direction my community is going; which is the right one. For additional information on Black Fathers Rock, check out their official website. You can also connect with them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Until Next Time…
