Greetings All,
In a previous post, I advised that homeschooling is currently on the rise here in the United States. My community has become the fastest-growing segment, with an estimated 220,000 African American students being homeschooled and making up 10% of the nation’s demographic. I’ve recently discovered another homeschooling institution that’s been making serious strides for Black youth, and it’s only right that I share their information.
Freedom Home Academy InternationalÂ
Based in Chicago, Illinois, and founded by Marcus Kline, Freedom Home Academy International is an Afrikan-centered institution for toddlers through High School. Using different methods of teaching to meet the best learning style for children, their aim is academic intensity through an Afrikan perspective. They focus on enhancing children intellectually, socially, and physically. And their goal is to prepare the children to become global competitors.
FHAI was founded on the principles of academic excellence, Afrikan consciousness and pride, integrity, and political awareness. They offer Math, Science, English, French, Afrikan Ourstory and Urban Agriculture and Sustainability, Chess, Jiu-Jitsu, and Tai-Chi. Their curriculum places heavy emphasis on critical and creative thinking, inquiry and discovery strategies, problem-solving, and rapid pacing.
