CJ isn’t a rule breaker, but he doesn’t follow all the rules; he’s not a dangerous teen, but he’s not afraid of danger; he doesn’t completely reject authority, but he can take care of himself. He’s a complex young man, and no one understands that more than his social worker, Andres Morales.

Written and directed by Broderick Russell Jr., Before…CJ stars L.J. Little and Alex Meruelo. This flashback scene gives context to CJ’s behavior before the nation went dark, inadvertently preparing him for the present day.
