Introducing Congo’s Rechargeable Iron…

There’s a new invention coming out of the Democratic Republic of Congo that I had to spotlight.

The following information is from Africa News.

23-year-old Baraka Safari Elie has invented the first rechargeable iron in the DRC. Taking up to 8 months for trials, this iron can conserve energy for up to 3 hours. Elie’s motivation for inventing the iron was to help improve the lives of the Congolese living in a country where electricity is a problem.

He advised the following:

“Among the solutions we have provided is the rechargeable iron that allows users to iron for a period of at least three hours without having electricity in the house, which means that you can charge it, you can even travel with it, in trips, anywhere, if you need to iron, if you don’t have access to electricity you can always use our iron.”

The iron costs US$25.
