China To Build The World’s First “Forest City”

Greetings Good People,

Throughout this blog, I’ve highlighted some of the technological advances that are making waves in China. Say what you please, but they are dominating in that department. I’ve recently come across another project of theirs and had to share it with you all. Take a look at China’s Forest City.

According to Futurism.com, the world’s first Forest City is under construction in Liuzhou, Guangxi Province, China. Designed by Stefano Boeri Architetti, this city is being created to fight air pollution and will be the home for about 30,000 people. It will include nearly 1 million plants of more than 100 species and 40,000 trees that’ll absorb almost 10,000 tons of carbon dioxide and 57 tons of pollutants. The Forest City will also run on renewable energy sources such as geothermal and solar energy.

Liuzhou Forest City will be located along the Liujiang River and will include commercial zones, residential areas, recreational spaces, a hospital, and two schools. The city is set to be complete sometime in the year 2020.

I was in awe when I read this, and I’m even more curious about the finished product. If you have any additional information on the city, please feel free to comment below.

Until Next Time…
