The topic of sovereignty within my community has been discussed throughout this blog in previous posts, and I wanted to continue highlighting viable solutions that will get us there. Voicing our complaints without adhering to the blueprints set aside by our ancestors and Freedom Fighters is tone-deaf at this point, especially since the message hasn’t changed in over 60 years. So let’s take a look at a platform that offers a step in the right direction.
The Tulsa Real Estate Fund
The Tulsa Real Estate Fund LLC. is the first African American owned crowdfunding platform with the plan of revitalizing urban communities. Because our communities don’t control our dollars, real estate, and small businesses, they are currently being developed (gentrified) by individuals who don’t have our best interest at heart. So TREF’s plan is to finance these areas with their $50 million dollar regulation A+ Tier 2 real estate crowdfunding. They will allow both accredited and non-accredited investors to collectively invest and own real estate projects that are unique, diversified, and yield a reasonable rate of return. And community members, institutions, and advocacy groups will also have the opportunity to own an equity stake in redevelopment projects.
As someone who needs to do more research before making a decision on whether I want to invest or not, I encourage you to do the same; especially if you are interested. You can check out their official website for detailed information and connect with them on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
Until Next Time…
