Ratnik-3

Greetings Good People,

Have you ever played Call of Duty, Metal Gear Solid, or Halo? If you’re a gamer, you may be familiar with those games and their premise, which is usually centered around a tactical war zone. Well, I recently came across some news about a combat bodysuit that’s currently in development. And I had to share this information with you all.

Take a look at Russia’s Ratnik-3.

Developed by Rostec’s TsNIITochMash, the Central Research Institute for Machine Building, the Ratnik-3 is a titanium bodysuit that will be used by the Russian military. Some of the perks include a powered exoskeleton suit (which gives soldiers great strength and stamina), a bulletproof body armor tech, and a full face-covering visor and helmet. The weight of the completed combat gear will be reduced by 30% when it’s released in the field. Its kit consists of five integrated systems that include life support command and communication, engaging, protection and energy saving subsystems. And there are a total of 59 items that the Ratnik-3 is comprised of:

  • Various Bulletproof vests
  • Protective Helmets
  • A Combat One-piece Garment
  • A Headset with active protection
  • Protective Glasses
  • A Grenade Launcher
  • Assault Rifles
  • Sniper Rifles
  • Munition
  • A Combat Knife
  • Round-the-clock reconnaissance devices and unified optical and thermal imaging sights

According to Futurism, the latest upgrade to the armor includes a nuclear blast resistant watch. Oleg Faustov, the Chief Designer for the Life Support System of the Soldier Combat Outfit at the Central Scientific Research Institute for Precision Machine Engineering, advised that “the watch, which we have included in the Ratnik outfit, retains its properties upon the impact of radiation and electromagnetic impulses, for example, nuclear blast.” The watch also has a self-winding mechanism and operates under water. And the expected release of the suit is set for the year 2022.

This bodysuit has me curious about how wars will be waged in the future. Even though there is a cool factor to these technological advances, the damages that they will cause to the planet and its species always comes to mind. For additional information on Ratnik-3, check out Rostec’s official website. And if you have any updates, please feel free to comment below.

Until Next Time…
