Greetings All,
I just relocated back to my stomping grounds, Charlotte, NC. So I’m a little behind on local politics. When I say a little, I really mean extremely late. This news comes out of The Charlotte Observer.
Meet Garry L. McFadden.
McFadden is a retired Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police homicide detective who is running for Mecklenburg County Sheriff for 2018. He’s a 36 year veteran of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department, serving 27 years as a Detective and 20 years in the Homicide Unit. Throughout his career, he’s investigated more than 800 homicides, solving 90% of them. In the Democratic primary tomorrow, May 8, he’ll face Sheriff Irwin Carmichael.
McFadden has advised that he sees the sheriff’s post as “an extension of the work that I am currently doing in the community now, with I Speak, Cops and Barbers, Council of Elders” and mentoring the youth. And if elected, he hopes to create and enforce policies and procedures with transparent accountability, reduce crime through the implementation of vocational and mentoring opportunities, and establish community engagement. Which I hope comes to fruition.
