Martin Luther King Jr. Day: A Message to The Young People

“If it falls your lot to be a street sweeper, sweep streets like Michelangelo painted pictures, sweep streets like Beethoven composed music, sweep streets like Leontyne Price sings before the Metropolitan Opera, and sweep streets like Shakespeare wrote poetry. Sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will have to pause and say, ‘Here lived a great street sweeper who swept his job well.’ “

– Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I wanted to share a speech that he made at Barratt Junior High School on October 26, 1967. The title of the speech was called, “What Is In Your Life’s Blueprint?” The speech holds as much merit today as it did then and I’m still inspired by his message at my 28 years of age.

Below is the link for the speech, I hope you enjoy!
